Getting IVF, should we get PGD? (Recurrent MC)

Question

We’re planning on starting IVF mid-December but don’t know if we should do the genetic testing. We’ve had two miscarriages so the doctor said it was worth considering. All of our tests have been normal, except my basal follicle count is low.
Please share why you did or didn’t decide to do PGD.

We did testing and I felt like it was worth the peace of mind. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Pricey but worth it once you are putting out the money for everything else. Good luck!

We did an IVF cycle last March, didn't do PGS, and our embryos looked perfect developing exactly as they should with less than 5% fragmentation. We transfered 2 and had a chemical pregnancy. This time around we've decided to opt for CCS because I'm 35, We've been trying for 3 years and I've done a total of 10 medicated cycles. We're tired and don't want to keep transferring embryos that aren't going to make it. Up to 70% of chromosomes are abnormal and with those odds that's potentially a lot of cycles and I think with unexplained infertility we're less likely to have healthy embryos since what else could be wrong wheb we've done every test under the sun. It's expensive but if it helps us get a healthy baby 1st transfer it's money well spent and emotionally a lot easier.

It is your decision at the end of the day. However the genetic testing is still experimental. It only picks up most common abnormalities. There are over two hundred abnormal chromosomes. Also performing genetic testing you can risk losing the egg bc they have to tamper with it.

I’m in the exact same boat, low follicles but everything else normal. Have had 4 MC and we are about to go straight to ivf on dr recommendations, we will be doing the genetic testing on all embryos to be sure... my sister in law was the same and chose not to do the test... resulted in loosing one twin but having the healthy other one. It’s all up to u guys.

We have decided to do PGS since we lost our baby boy to trisomy 13 earlier this summer. I want to try to prevent that heartache from happening again.

I did PGS and I still had two failed transfers and a miscarriage. It’s not a guarantee. If the cost isn’t prohibitive, it’s worth trying for recurrent miscarriage! My new doctor wants me to try a fresh transfer without it to see if we have better success. She said that the biopsy can possible damage the embryo - which may be why I had a miscarriage even with a totally normal embryo.

I didn’t do PGS/PGD because I only had 6 eggs and Indidnt want to potentially lose any to false positive results.  Positive results (while rare) can occur due to embryo placental mosaicism.  I also didn’t want to risk so few potential embryos to potential damage from biopsy. 
If we had 10+ eggs retrieved we would have done PGS.
