Do you ask people their preferred pronouns?

Saw this on my feed and I wanted to hear more opinions. Answer the title for the poll.

I found this interesting because someone mentioned in the comments that asking people their pronouns (in public) could be considered using outing trans people as an excuse for “normalization” in our society and many trans people won’t feel comfortable answering that around their coworkers and such but some will. However a lot of people disagreed with the OP because they said you should judge by the way they look and said you should instead use gender neutral pronouns in general until the person addresses themself.

Now, I’m trans, but even I can’t really form an opinion on this too well as many concerns expressed are valid, so I want to hear other opinions.
