Social Media ?

How do you feel about Social Media ? I wonder Is it a good thing, there are pro and cons - that we all can be connected, cyber bullying, easier for cheaters and more. What do you think ?

It really has changed society entirely. The way we communicate, handle relationships,  the self promotion. The only good thing about it, is that it helps people stay in touch a little better. But it's made many people obsessed with getting attention and validation to some degree.

It’s probably more bad than good.  It facilitates inauthentic relationships and feeds people’s dependence.  It ruined the culture of announcements.  People have forgotten that you don’t reveal personal info to the world without at least informing family first.  
People are addicted and live their lives out loud.  Self-reflection has declined because people are more concerned with being heard instead of having something to say.

It’s fine, but I wish we all used it in smaller doses

Social media is the only reason I have met families who have children with the same syndrome as my son. All other information shows that there are only a few other kids with it alive. I am now friends with about 10 other families all thanks to Facebook. That's enough of a reason for me to think it's incredible.

I personally really appreciate that I can keep up with people I ordinarily would have lost touch with years ago.

Definitely depends what it’s used for!!! It is an incredible tool for networking, promoting and sharing positive ideas! Can be abused and I despise the fact that it can do more harm than good sometimes

It's a tool that can be wonderful. But it can also easily become a negative thing. I also don't think it gives people easier access to cheating, because if they wanted to cheat, they would still do it. Self control is a wonderful thing in that regards. 
But I would not be able to keep in touch with friends from high school without it. I wouldn't be able to have my current relationship without social media and technology since my partner lives far away.

Social media is communication and communication is power. Power can be used for both good and bad. I don’t think social media has actually created societal woes, only provided them a bigger outlet and exposed what was already there in the human heart.

there are good things about it. I personally don't care about using it as a way of keeping in touch with people I dont see often, it just feels like too empty, impersonal, and inauthentic to use it for that. I would rather call someone, email them, or make a point to carve time out in our busy lives and actually see each other. I think it all too often takes the place of personal one on one communication and this is its biggest downside. 
But social media is great for keeping up with events in your community, for discovering new art and artists, new music. It is great for sharing and spreading ideas (and misinformation, unfortunately. to add another downside). and I really like it for organizing group activities because I've always been awful at that
