Can you dye your hair while pregnant?

I need to get my hair recolored but didn’t know if it was safe. I am 8 weeks pregnant and don’t want to do anything that will be harmful to me or my unborn child.

I did at 8w and 16w! Getting it done again next Wednesday. I get highlights and I haven’t had any issues with it messing w my hair. Everyone is different though and her salon is roomy/she knows I’m pregnant. The dye never touches my scalp. It’s the fumes that could make you get a headache but my OB said go for it!

Yes you are safe to dye your hair, even wait until the 2nd trimester if it makes you feel better. Just don't bleach your hair, I did at 7 weeks and my hair was ruined I completely forgot that your hair changes during and after pregnancy 😄

Yes it is safe. I made sure it was OK with my OB/GYN when I was 10 weeks pregnant. She said it was completely safe and I dyed my hair a few times while I was pregnant.

The ingredient that made hair dye unsafe has been removed from most dyes. So you should be fine. I just made sure to let my stylist know. I’m in Illinois and the place I go only uses dyes that are safe for pregnant women. So just ask, but it’s hard to find due that isn’t safe anymore
