Do you believe there should be a statue of limitations on sex crimes?

Also do you believe that there should be a different statue of limitation for an adult vs a child? Why or why not? This post arose from a discussion in regards to a women who took her own life, because she couldn't get justice from the man who had assaulted her; Due to statue of limitations. All comments, rants, and thoughts welcome.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! I'm sorry but for victims of sexual assault or rape or molestation it is TRAUMATIZING and HARD AS FUCK to fucking come out and talk about your rape nevermind trying to get the person who did it to you. Plus it doesn't make it any easier when men like Brock Turner are caught red handed and released after 3 months. 
So let's not punish those who have a hard time coming out/to terms with what happened??

No, there should be no statute of limitations for serious crimes. And sex crimes are serious. 
Having said that, I am unclear why there is a statue of limitations for any crimes. What is the purpose of this? Can anyone with knowledge enlighten me?

Yes and no.
I think victims have been afraid to come out with their stories for so long. A good part of that reason is because people are so quick to question the victim (aka victim blame) to the point where it’s almost shameful to have to be questions so harshly. 
on the other hand is I feel people are very wary of situations like this because they fear a false allegations of rape. 
It’s such a touchy subject. I think the statute of limitation is fine. I just think we need to make it easier/safer or more comfortable for the victims to come forward, rather than changing the laws that can possibly be the very thing that saves an innocent person from going to jail. 
I have hope for the future, with all the stories of people coming out, it does seem as if people are feeling safer to come forward. that being said, I think the statute of limitation should remain as is.

No. Rapists should never get the satisfaction of knowing that they’re “safe” after a certain amount of time because someone was too afraid to speak up before the limitations. Make them fear being unexpectedly caught for every day of their life with no limitations.
