Amen! The only person who has met my daughter from my husband’s extended family is his grandfathers (recent) ex wife. That whole side of the family is gonna get a rude shock when none of them are invited to the first birthday party. They’ll all have a cry about it of course and we’ll be the assholes, but we’re not inviting people to our daughter’s birthday party that she’s not gonna know and me comfortable around!

Basically. We live 15 minutes away and my husbands mom has only seen him once since he was born three months ago. And that's only because we brought him there for thanksgiving! His sister also lives 15 minutes away but has never come to visit then complains that she never gets to see him and talks about how "family is so important" and "she loves him so much" "she's gonna be his favorite aunt" Not my fault you don't wanna bother coming here. I take my daughter to go see my mom and dad, but it's mostly because I don't like it when people spontaneously drop in on me....while my mom does. I don't go out of my way to go see anyone else and they don't come to see me. I don't really feel like it's that crucial. We all have lives and jobs and kids and it's annoying to pretend like we care about each other when we really wouldn't notice if each other disappeared. ha.
