What’s your story?
I think often times women on this app can come across as judgmental or even rude. I feel that we all have a past and are who we are because of it. So if you feel comfortable tell us your story. Maybe it’ll help us understand each other as women. I’ll go first.
I’m a 28 year African American woman married to a 42 year old man. I’ve been married for almost 10 years. I’m currently 24 weeks pregnant. My husband and I started dating and it was HARD. We got married after 6 months of dating. We had to move into my in laws basement along with his 2 children. We stayed there for 3 years until we were able to get on our feet. We struggled our first year. Lived paycheck to paycheck. I finally got the motivation to go back to school and I figured that I would do something “easy.” I studied Human Resource Management and business management. I was able to get a job at a GREAT company with excellent pay and things started working for us. They paid for me to get my bachelors and masters and I just finish my PhD. My husband went to school for criminal justice and pre-law. He passed the bar in 2014 and opened his own practice in January of 2016. My husband and I decided we wanted children together but he had a vasectomy. We were able to get a reversal with insurance June of 2016. It took us exactly 1 year to conceive. That years was the ONLY time I’ve ever questioned my marriage and God. I dealt with anger, resentment, and bitterness because I wanted children so bad. It was hard raising another woman’s kids and not knowing if I would ever have my own. But I truly believe that year is what made me patient and I got to know my body VERY well. That’s why I am who I am today.
