Waiting (Im)patiently
Several friends of mine have had babies recently. Which is very exciting! But one friend in particular has been especially distant since giving birth. And at first it’s like, I️ get it. You have a new baby and that’s a lot and you aren’t exactly going to be up for wine on a Tuesday night anymore. And that’s fine. But then I’ve seen them posting on social media all of these hangouts with other people with kids. And while venting about this to another friend, I️ was told, “Well, you just aren’t at the same stage of life right now. Sometimes you lose friends when you go through things at a different pace,”. Which is a fair comment. But what my friend doesn’t know (what nobody knows) is my husband and I️ have been trying to get pregnant for five
months now with zero results. And it adds insult to injury when my friends who have wonderful baby making bodies leave me out because I️ still drink wine on a Tuesday night when all I️ want in the world is to not be able to.
