Should your hubby/boyfriend love you more than anybody in the world including other family members???

I'm not sure how to feel or who should be loved more in the situation but he and I have had rough patches leading to his mother not being so fond of me but she doesn't know the parts that were bad on his part so she has a bad image of me and now shes not very fond of me so I wonder should your SO love you more than his family ?

I feel like the love you have for your family is different from the love you share with your SO ... so I can’t exactly answer this question because everyone has different relationships.

It’s a different type of love. I don’t love my husband more than I love my family or friends. I just love him differently. I will say that if my husband was a mamas boy that would drive me insane.

No. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to love someone more than my family. They’ve been there for me through it all, so I don’t expect someone to love me more than their family.

I don't love my Father with the same type of love I love my husband with.. I don't love my husband with the same type of love I love my children with. They are all love but different types and with different passions to them. His Mother will most likely always side with him even if he is in the wrong because she is his Mother and your are just his girlfriend (don't take that wrong but not a wife etc so her view is still different in respect to your fighting than if you were his wife).

I think the love you have for family and a significant other are different. My fiancé tells me all the time I’m all he has and that I’m the most important person in the world to him. All of his family is actively involved in his life and they are all wonderful. I’ve always asked him if he means it when he says he loves me more than them and he always responds yes. I think its possible if someone is important enough to you.

I think the love can be equal but their priority should be you. Our parents raise us and when we grow up we choose a spouse. Outside of unhealthy and abusive partners, if you are in a loving and healthy relationship your spouse should be your priority. Say Mom doesn’t like wife for no good reason, husband should choose wife. I don’t expect my husband to love me like he loves his mother but I do expect him to choose me and prioritize me.

It’s a different type of love but honestly I love my husband more. The rest of my family will move on with their lives, it’s just what happens. Kids grow up and start their life and need their parents less, siblings move on for what’s best for their own kids and marriage, my parents will grow old and pass before my life is finished (usually) and the same will obviously happen with his family members. It’s not that you don’t love them it’s just life moves on and you have to prioritize between people who are always there and will be as life keeps going or the people who love you but have to be involved in their own life and only be apart of yours when they have the time or when it’s appropriate. My spouse is always first.

I believe the love we have for each other is different than the live we have for our family and friends. Our connection is totally different. We’re in love with each other, but if either one of us had to choose family over the other due to like an emergency or something we would be totally supportive of the other. I think it’s kinda unhealthy to put them before family. But it depends. I get it if you’re married and have kids and a career and live together, that’s totally understandable to put them before family, but in my relationship currently at our ages of 21 and 24, just starting out our adult lives age still relying on our parents and don’t live together , I don’t think it would be right or even really make sense to put them before our parents and siblings.
