Growth Scans - are they reliable? 🤔

Hi Ladies,
Does anyone have any experience with growth scans? 
My daughter was 9lb7.5oz and I was told after her I should opt for a c-section - the birth wasn’t great, I was induced at 42 weeks, it was very long and ended with forceps and episiotomy... other than great!
Anyway I’m now 5 weeks with baby number 2 and I’d like to have the option of a vaginal birth if possible, depending on growth scans etc, but have heard they can be quite unreliable and I wouldn’t want to add any additions risk to the baby’s delivery. 
Has anyone had accurate or not so accurate growth scans?

I had a scan estimating her weight at 35+3 being 7lbs 6oz. Come that next week at 36+2 when I was induced, she popped out at 5lbs 11oz 😑 I would say they're not very accurate lol

Lol noooooo they told me my baby would be 9 pounds and barely fit in newborn clothes... she came out 7 pounds and was in preemie for a month and new born clothes and diapers for 3 months

My doctor only does dating & anatomy ultrasounds. No more than that, she said its unnecessary to do anything else 🤷🏻‍♀️

Mind was accurate 🤷🏼‍♀️. Got it done at 34 weeks and she was expected to be 7 lbs 5 oz at birth. She was 7lbs 4 oz at birth.

I have young sisters. With my youngest sister my mom was induced because they thought she was too big... she was 6lbs plus some. Hardly a big baby. I've heard plenty of similar stories and that they can be off up to 2 lbs.

My son was measuring 2 weeks ahead according to the growth scan and was supposed to be "huge" (like 9lbs). My nephew was measuring almost 3 weeks behind and was supposed to be "tiny". My son weighed 7lbs 9.3oz and my nephew weighed a whole pound more than mine. I don't think those things are accurate.

I was told at 38 weeks with my first that she would maybe weigh 6lbs at birth. they swore she would be a little one and turned out to be 8lbs 2oz. i don't feel like they are very reliable because they are basing the weight on leg length and other measurements that don't truly define weight. I was able to have a natural (medicated) birth. I did need stitches tho.

I refuse them because they are so innacurate.  my first was 8lbs 2oz and my second was 9lbs 10oz. no need for a growth scan here. my body knows what it's doing.

My doc doesn’t like to rely on the growth scans, but he does them every few weeks like yours mentioned. He said if labor begins to stall or complications come up, guessing baby’s size will help him know what to do next. I have a history of big babies in the family.
