Smiling?

My little preemie is 10 weeks old (3 weeks adjusted) and it seems like she is trying to smile. I know 2 month olds can start to show little smiles when full term, but is this one of the milestones she will hit in line with fullterm babies?

Talk to your pediatrician. My son is almost 3 months old 1 1/2 adjusted and today was the first time he smiled on purpose. I asked the doctor and she told me to look at him at his adj age not actual age so I try and compare him more to the 1 1/2 month old he is.

I think it will be more in line with adjusted age, but on the earlier side. I think the normal range is 4-8 weeks, so 4-5 weeks makes sense to me, but I don't think 3 weeks is impossible. however, I do think that when a baby smiles a real smile at you, you know it. the first smiles are so exciting!

My LO is 10 weeks old (3 adjusted) too and we had our first smile today! I think it's best to just take each milestone with a pinch of salt for us preemie mums- our babies will hit some of them "on time" and some they won't, just like any other baby I guess :)

My 9 week old (4 weeks adjusted) hasn’t socially smiled yet, at her two month appointment the doctor said not to worry, and to go by her adjusted age for that milestone.
