Everyone could benefit from counseling. We don't grow up with a manual for life and are bound to have baggage from something that happened in our past that we don't know how to deal with. Nothing wrong with learning how to be your best self, whether it's through counseling, working out, writing...

I will talk to a counselor because it's a fantastic one hour where I talk just about myself and the other person listens and I don't feel obligated to listen to them. A bonus is that I get an educated, outside opinion on any of my issues. Going to counseling does not make you fucked up, it's a way to take care of your mental health, much like going to the Dr for regular check ups is taking care of your physical health.

I kinda find this poll disrespectful. Counselling isn't just for people that are 'hella fucked up' and 'maybe but I can manage it on my own' is going to get you some seriously biased answers. I started counselling about a month ago, not bc I'm 'hella fucked up' but bc I just moved back to Canada after 7 years overseas in a very different culture with my non-Canadian husband, to care for my terminally ill mum, who passed away. We were in the middle of a frozen embryo transfer cycle when I came back, with 1 suitcase, on the next flight and later had to cancel the cycle and start over. Did 3 IUI cycles right after my mum died and are planning a new IVF cycle in January bc our embryos are on the other side of the world and it would cost $5500 to ship them. I constantly felt guilty for being away so long, was angry at the world and my husband for keeping me away and i was snappy, even with strangers that set me off. I didn't like who I was, because it wasn't me. I knew it was because of grief and feeling disempowered but knowing that doesn't always help you to change how you feel. I'm sure I would have eventually felt better on my own but

Going to a counselor could be beneficial for anyone. We all have things we feel like we could work on or things we want to do to improve ourselves. 
I think it's when your life is getting disrupted from whatever is going on, that is when someone should probably a counselor.

I’ve been in cognitive behavioral therapy for over 2 years now! I love my therapist! Therapy was hands down the best decision I ever made for myself other than going vegan! It’s okay to need help. Like even people who don’t suffer from like disorders or trauma could benefit from therapy. I talk about my boyfriend, school, work, my career , friends, Cat, and how to reach my goals and what’s holding me back. We talk about anything and everything that will help me become who I envision myself as. And like I wouldn’t have been able to realize my full potential if not for therapy. I’ve always had big dreams, but have always been too timid and anxious to think I could ever live them. Now I’m starting culinary school next semester and am so excited!!
