Creep catchers Harmful or beneficial?

So I somehow ended up watching creep catchers on YouTube. It’s actually pretty sickening how easy it is for predators to get in contact with children.

Anyway, it got me thinking, are these “vigilante” groups helping or making it harder to convict child predators?

If you don’t know what Creep Catchers are, it’s basically a civilian group of people who pose as underaged boys/girls, in the hopes of catching a child predator and placing a citizens arrest on them. Often, the group uses instant messaging apps, Craigslist, and social media to target predators, they will meet them at a public locations ( a few I’ve seen them at a residence but not many), where they then record them confronting the predator while police are on the way.
