Did you know that the Trump administration just shut down the “we the people” petition website?

As of this morning, the “we the people” website has been shut down. The administration claims It is temporary. Critics suggest it’s because of the many petitions critical of Trump that require a response. (More than 100,000 signatures means the federal government must respond.) Although many petitions have met this threshold, in the past year, no responses have been given.

Is this just one more way for this administration to control the narrative? Does it concern you to see story after story about how the government is banning words, trying to control platforms for speech?

Yeah, so what. To be clear I don’t support the Trump administration, but I’m indifferent about the site being shut down. Sites like this allow people to feel like they are making a difference by adding their name to a meaningless petition. If you want real change you need to do more than sign an online petition.

I will always question this administration, they have done this with the EPA, and other websites that we’re doing good for the public. They don’t want to answer the petitions that meet the number of participants. 
This is sad, and I don’t believe they will have saved any of the other petitions that met the requirements.

Don't you guys have some sort of constitutional obligation to remove such a government....after that "we the people" isnt there another part. Something about a long train of usurpations?

I only ask because the US actually has the ability to shut down/block something like 80% of the Internet and half the free world.

I mean, I'm sure trump wants anything negative about him shut down. But I'm not sure how much control he has over that. We'll see early next year if it gets put back up, I guess.
