Should a professor forward a students email to their adviser without their permission?

Question

I emailed my professor about personal struggles (it was relevant as to why I was asking for an extension) I am having and they forwarded the email to my advisor and I don’t feel comfortable with them knowing that information.

Answer

Technically yes they can since it's their boss. Especially if they don't know if they can give an extension on a project. But if you have a probably with it I would confront the professor and ask them to please ask you if you want all that information to be passed on or if you would like a more anonymous information to the adviser
