What do you tell children about having babies and marriage? (Read below)

I'm a school teacher and it's obvious by your title whether you are married or not and I've recently had a lot of students ask me if I'm married (I am not) or how I'm pregnant out of wedlock (ah innocence 😛). I know we're told as we grow up that marriage is first so I wanted some opinions on what I could respond? As a parent what would you be ok with, or what would you not be ok with? (K-Gr.6)
My response has been "I'm getting married I just don't fit into my dress with baby in there!" 
(Honestly don't know what room this goes in)

I like your answer. As a parent I teach my children marriage first then babies. My oldest is 8 and she began questioning why some people aren’t married but have kids. I don’t lie to her or bash those who aren’t. I simply say not everyone believes the way we do.

I simply tell my 5 year old that everybody’s family is different and that’s ok! Families are just people who love each other.
