Anyone have Tourettes or Tic Disorder?

I am 27 years old, ready to turn 28. I have gone through trials of lots of drugs and gained lots of weight in the process. Now, I am ttc with my husband for baby #1. We decided to wait a year before ttc. I'm on cycle 4 of ttc right now. As most of you know, I had to quit taking my medications so there is no harm to the child. I am going insane. I feel like such a "freak." My tics are driving me as everyone around me nuts and apparently I developed a new one that really hurts my shoulder. I'm so tempted to go back on the medication and forget children but I continue to stick it out another day. This past month, I feel like they have been even worse. I can't wait till Thursday... going to therapy again. Anyone else feel my pain?

My grandfather, my dad, and both of my brothers have this. Girls are not as susceptible to developing Tourette’s as boys, but they are genetic carriers. I am currently 9 months pregnant (and overdue, at that) with a little boy. I have often wondered if I will pass that trait to him, and have shared my thoughts with my husband. He has ADHD, so I’m fully expecting our child to have one or the other, if not a mixture of both. 
My brothers were never put on medication for their TS, but they *were* homeschooled. They had verbal as well as motor tics - barking, oinking, whistling, blinking, spitting (my youngest brother spit in an urn at Biltmore House and I thought my stepmom’s father was going to have a heart attack - we had to explain things to him very quickly)... body movements such as repetitive clapping, throwing their arms up in the air and bringing them forcefully down on any solid object in front of them, etc. One brother had the profanity tic and would say “d***” over and over again, as well as give everyone the finger 30 times in a row. (Try explaining that one when it happens in church... 😬) 
Because I grew up around Tourette’s and am very used to what it’s like to live with those who suffer from it, I have tried to make my husband aware of how it can affect not only the child who has it, but the other members in the family. I want to make sure that he recognizes the difference between a repetitive tic and actual bad behavior, so as not to be too hard on our child when/if they happen.

Hi! My partner had the same issue, obviously not the same being that he’s not carrying but he’s frightened that our child will have tics and honestly, if you doctor says you’re okay taking them and it makes you comfortable, go ahead. But either way you’ll be okay and nothing will go wrong 😌

thanks. I worry as well that our child might have them and I've looked it up. I read that boys are more likely than girls, but out kids will have 50/50 chance of getting them, which is a high chance to me. But my husband and I have discussed this greatly and think that I would be the best mommy to a little that may experience it...likewise for your guy (who better to help a child with tics than a parent with tics). good luck to you!

My daughter father has Tourette’s and i was sooooo worried she would have it and all along she was ok until about 5 years old all of a sudden she started with major attention issues and tics. Pretty bad tics too. Needless to say we had to medicate her in order to have her tics ok enough for her to be able to learn properly.

I don’t have Tourette’s. I’m a carrier though and my older brother does. I am done having children but I have 3 boys. Chances are good that one of them will develop tics. My eldest son is the most likely candidate but he’s only 6 and although we see a psychologist for him, it’s a bit early to see many tics. He’s got some behaviors that make me wonder sometimes.
I’m sorry you are going through this while pregnant. It sounds like you are communicating and working with your Dr though. You are doing all the right things. Be strong. You’ve got this
