Cradle cap

My son has cradle cap. I had it under control and then out of no where it can back a little stronger. I have also noticed that he has lost a lot of hair due to the cradle cap. The cradle cap seems to be flaking off. But if not he his always attacking his head by scratching /pulling hair. I put mittens on his has which doesn't seem like they are working. Because he has been rubbing and a lot of his hair still comes out. I have tried baby oil to try to moisturize his scalp that didn't work now I am trying coconut oil. Seems to work at times. But I am also the only one who has been putting it on him in the morning before I leave for work my boyfriend thinks that it is not working and wont put it on his head but instead uses cocoa butter. I don't know if cradle cap also contributes to having dry skin every where cuz I also notice that as well.I don't know if I am doing something wrong can anyone help
