Hospital bag - what I REALLY used

Emily

I'm a first time mom and It's been 6 weeks since the birth of my sweet baby girl. During my pregnancy I watched a lot of "What's in my Hospital Bag" YouTube videos, and found it really helpful when there was a follow-up showing what they really used. I thought it might be helpful for other pregnant mama's to see what was truly used based on what I thought I'd need. I'd love to see what other mom's really ended up using from their bags too!  Here is my original list, along with my comments:

Nursing nightgown - never wore (but LOVE these postpartum at home)

Robe - never wore

2 pairs socks - wore one pair and left at the hospital after walking on the hospital floor with them. Should have just stuck with the socks the hospital provided.

Slippers - never wore

3 pairs underwear - never wore, but in retrospect I wish I would have. I wore the mesh undies provided by the hospital but those things are HUGE (and I'm no tiny girl either) and with the pads and ice packs, they could barely stay up. Definitely recommend buying a pack of cotton granny panties you don't care about ruining.

Nursing tank - never wore (but LOVE these postpartum at home)

Nursing bra - never wore

Mommy coming home outfit (sweats, comfy t-shirt, hoodie) - wore and definitely recommend that this outfit be something comfy like sweats/leggings and a loose t-shirt or sweater.

Toiletries  (basics plus nipple cream) - i was in the hospital for 1 night and didn't shower there, I waited til I got home. I did like having facewash, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, and believe it or not some basic makeup  (tinted moisturizer, concealer, mascara and tinted lip balm).

Breast pads - never used

Dad change of clothes - never used, he was able to quickly pop home and shower/change there

Baby swaddle blanket - used and definitely recommend.

Baby sleepers x2 - used 1 as a coming home outfit. She stayed in a diaper, the shirt from the hospital and a swaddle while in the hospital.

Baby hats x2 - used, but only because they were knit by husband's grandmother and were sentimental. Otherwise the ones provided by the hospital would have been just as good.

Chargers - definitely used

Hospital consents and birth plan - needed consents. Birth plan goes right put the window when you're in labor 🤣
