Yes. Because they are toddlers. My toddler has never had a screen in front of her. She’s one so she’s still young but she doesn’t watch tv and she doesn’t get a tablet. She’ll get a tablet eventually and at that point, there will be time restrictions and I will be ensuring that the content is appropriate and mostly educational. A fun song video is okay with me. I don’t see issues with that sort of thing, but she won’t be on it for long periods of time every single day.

Anything under 18 months gets no screen time. It is detrimental to their cognitice development and even educational items have zero impact. Over 18 months I am fine with introducing educational pieces in very small doses. Kids need to play and get their experience through the interaction through their family. Not through a tablet. Limited after 18 months.

Disclaimer: I have no children before you go and report me to CPS 😅 I’d rather teach them that technology can be used as part of an active lifestyle rather than make a blanket rule banning all screen time. Some examples: We can look up recipes to cook meals as a family We can go camping and use that star gazing app to learn about constellations We can use the fitness apps to go on walks or hikes We can read books on the iPad together If they ask questions (which kiddos are naturally inclined to do), I’ll be like “why don’t we google it”. That being said, we don’t really watch that much tv, so i can’t see that being an issue. I don’t have cable and the only TV we own is in the attic (which is a finished attic..it’s like a Rec room).

I think I'm taking this a different way then everyone else. I think if you want your toddler to watch TV, then you should watch it with them and make it a more interactive and a learning experience.

Why? Because it's a proven fact that watching a lot of tv is bad for your brain cells. They also don't need it, their entertainment should be from toys and music. If they are watching something it should be something they can learn from like colors and numbers not just silly movies.

i let my toddler watch tv stuff like mickey mouse and stuff but have half the time its on just for noise because he's off playing with toys or flipping through a book

Yes. Of course. You should limit anything. Like treats, screen time. Everything should be in moderation. Toddlers don't understand moderation, therefore we have to teach it to them.

I strongly believe the RIGHT screens help development. The world has screens. I use screensavers like aquariums, rain storms and fireplaces. Always listening to classical music or nursery rhymes. I allow my daughter to watch Little Baby Bums, but I would never put on Peppa Pig. It’s WHAT is on the screen that matters, not the screen.

Do you mean limit or monitor what they watch. In both cases, yes. Kids shouldn't be glued to the TV 24/7. They should play creatively etc I monitor what my kid watches pretty heavily. I'm lenient with a lot if things but youtube is absolutely banned until they fix the shit storm that has been going on (just look up spider man vs elsa and you'll understand). Its so easy for kids to skip thru videos on there and deep dive into something they shouldn't dont be watching, even on the kids restricted mode. And lets be real its way to difficult to look at every single video they watch before they watch it.

A toddler should be learning and investigating the world. Learning by touch etc Screen time isn't the worst thing but it definitely isn't something they should be doing morning till night
