Intense fear of SIDS?

Question

Does anyone else have an intense fear of SIDS? Baby girl is 3 days old and I'm freaking out.  I can't even sleep when she's sleeping because I'm terrified that something will happen and I won't be able to help her.  I have to find a way to overcome this before I burn out,  3-4 hours of sleep per day/night is not long term sustainable.  Any advice?

that is actually a very normal thing. they have the owlet baby monitor that you put on like a sock and it alerts you if anything goes wrong.

Get an Owlet monitor. I LOVE ours. Some people think you need wireless internet to have it but you dont. It is the BEST money I ever spent. Our little one was born at 33 weeks and spent 28 days in the NICU. So it was nice to have that piece of mind.

Get an owlet monitor, it will set an alarm if anything were to happen. We also have had our girls in our room for the last 4 months

if you have a flexible spending account thru your health insurance you can also use it to purchase the owlet. that's how we got ours!

I was that way. I use to set an alarm on my phone for every hour to check on him in case I fell asleep. It passes. Your motherly instincts kick in. Now at 2 months I can sleep through his sleep noises and I'll wake up for when he's ready to eat. A mother knows.

Yep!! Baby girl is 3 months and I’m still scared but not like I was! I couldn’t even nap because I’d scare myself awake to check on her! It’s gotten so much better it just takes time!

This is very normal o didn't sleep for a full week when my daughter was born, 7 weeks later and I still check every few minutes if she's okay it's a natural mammy thing 💗

I am the same way. So much so that I’ve felt super guilty for not breastfeeding because breastfeeding lowers the risk of SIDS. It made me feel better to read that the chance of SIDS is 1 in 2000 and something like 0.5% chance. It also helped me to think of all the things that are more likely but I never thought of (such as the possibility of having a baby with Down syndrome). It’s been a little over two weeks and it’s getting better for me so hopefully this helps you a little!

I do but only because my husbands brother passed from.SIDS at 3 mo.  I know its weird but I get so relieved after our children reach over 3mo old.
