joining the military

so, i dont know how to have this conversation. all i want is some advice on your opinion. i grew up not celebrating (anything, birthdays, holidays, i don't celebrate) my husband really had no religion or creed. but he wants to join the military. #1 i know nothing if the world or what it's like. #2 im a recovering addict. since we met, i moved in within a week and I've never not had my husband. i dont even know how to plan a routine if he's gone. i feel like I'm about to crash. i have no clue what to think how to plan how to be without him, anybody have anything to say that could get me thinking?
