What to do with this dude

I have been dating this man for 2 years. It took over a year for him to use the word “girlfriend” and the word “love” was even harder for him to mutter. I do believe he loves me, but is not used to expressing feelings. I love him very much but I fear that he may be doing more harm than good. I have recently gained weight and have sunk into a deep depression. I’m 5’4 and weigh 140 lbs. I’m used to weighing 120.

Anyway, he is very critical. I feel so uncomfortable and unattractive. I have been told I look like Peter Griffin, and have been told in many ways that I am fat. I have mentioned that it’s a soft spot for me and hurts badly but he just laughs. It seems easier for him to say something mean than something kind.

Everything else about him is great. His actions show that he cares but his words are so hurtful.

My last relationships have been very abusive so idk what’s normal. Idk if the problem is me (being too sensitive) or if the problem is him. I feel crazy.
