Ultrasound tech ruined my day! Should I complain?

Question

We had our 20 week anomaly scan today at 19 weeks+5 and I was sooo excited and I feel like our ultrasound tech just ruined this special moment! 
She was rude as soon as she called my name and walked us back and said, “just lay on the table”. 
Through out the entire scan she didn’t say hardly a word and we had to just read what she was labeling, body parts etc and pretend we knew what we were looking at. 
My SO is very funny and he was just being himself, he made me laugh a few times and she scolded me and told me to “stop making my belly move so much!” 
Like what in the actual f*%# ?!
I asked her a few questions about baby and she said “this is a scan to see if everything is ok with baby, not for fun” 
Um, ok.  She didn’t even say “it’s a girl!” She just wrote the word girl under 
un-obvious private parts —I’m like jeez! We already knew she was a girl through blood test, it’s just the way she did it. 
Baby girl wouldn’t stay still the whole time so she just kept sighing like this was inconvenient for her...like I can make my 20 week fetus cooperate. 
Fiance and I just ended up staying silent the rest of scan and it just really was disappointing and awkward. 
At the end of appointment she stated that the radiologist will review scans, but they probably will want me to come back for more scans because it wasn’t “optimal”. Ok? So, now I’m all worr

ied something is wrong. 
Really trying to figure out if she was just having a bad day and to let it be or call and complain. This was a special day for

us that we have been looking forward to and she literally just crushed it. 
On the bright side we got a few pics and are over the moon about baby, Kate. 
Oh, and apparently she likes to hangout with her knees touching her face. Haha!

Ugh that sucks! I’m so sorry. That sounds so frustrating. My tech was very friendly but even with that she didn’t talk a lot because she had to get all the pics and those parts where she wasn’t talking were stressful even though she would make lots of convo in between. I can’t imagine how stressful it would be if she was being rude. 
I would complain for sure. My hospital sends me a survey via email after every appointment to provide feedback but even if they don’t do that I’d call. It doesn’t sound like you guys expected this to be a freaking trip to Disneyland you just wanted the person to crack a smile and be nice. She shouldn’t just be able to get away with that. 
At the VERY least you should be able to request a different tech for your next scan. (BTW I had to have follow up scans for both of my sons bc they wouldn’t cooperate so that’s pretty normal! If they didn’t share any bad results i wouldn’t worry)

I can SO understand how you felt!! My anatomy scan was also a complete disaster because of the dumb bitch who did the u/s. I’m sorry I have no other names for that woman. She didn’t even looked at us when we walked in, she didn’t even said one freaking word throughout the whole u/s. The very few questions we asked for were always answered by « the radiologist will give his report to your doctor ». So, we went there with super high hopes and got out completely deflated. The hospital gave us a sheet before the u/s stating that if any abnormalities were found we would be call within the same day. It’s been now 10 days since and we haven’t had any calls so we are hoping it means that all is good....I’ve been stressed and worried since. I had two u/s done previously. One for dating purposes at 8 weeks and one for NT at 13 weeks. We got more informations and pictures from those u/s with over the top amazing u/s technicians and for the most important one NOTHING and about 5 bad pictures (3 of which we have no clue what on earth we are looking at). I’m typing this and I’m still getting extremely pissed just at the memory. I do plan on having a full debriefing about that with my doctor and we will decide then what our options are. Overall, I think it was just extremely rude on her part. It would have not killed her to say one reassuring/kind word to us...I’m sorry you had to go through this as well.

I’d certainly call and just let the office know. I’m not sure what they can do, since insurance is involved ? 
Our ultrasound tech literally went over every part of the body she saw and told us everything and what the purpose was. She showed us the spinal fluid in the neck, she measured the brain, measured everything, showed us the heart in different views showing all the ventricles. But it was amazing to me how she could see so much and know exactly what it’s purpose was. 
She even had me try and move positions to make the baby move around so she could see more. 
It was definitely a really cool experience for us and I’m so sorry you didn’t have the same experience!

I would say something. Of course she wants to get good measurements and be professional and do her job. But that is one of the most exciting scans for parents as well! There is easily a happy medium to getting both done and having a good attitude about it!!! 
With our first our tech was so fun. With our second it was a man and it was horrid. I cried the whole way home and then called to have a 3d scan done so I could actually see baby and enjoy it. With this one our tech was super fun and got everything she needed. Def there are bad techs but there’s also awesome ones and that girl needs to step it up!

I would call and complain, or at least try and request someone else if they do call you back for more . She’s allowed to have a bad day but that doesn’t mean she gets to make other people feel shitty.

I’d certainly complain. Anyone that works with the public like that should be nice (bad day or not) From the sounds of it she went out of her way to be rude. If she hates her job that much than she should find a new profession. Js

Sorry the ultrasound tech was sucky! 
Optimal just means baby wasn’t in the best position for them to get all of the necessary pictures the doctors need to look at your baby. Nothing to worry about! Sometimes they just bring you in for a few more pictures and you just get to see your little one again. It definitely doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with the baby! :)

I would for sure write an email and complain.  It doesn't matter if she was just having a "bad day" that's no excuse to treat your ultrasound like an inconvenience.

Omg!!!! This happened to us on our 20 weeks last week!
She was such a serious face. Told us no talking. 
Didn’t even announce the gender. I saw her type MALE. Like wait. What. IT’S A BOY???
She could have had more enthusiasm. I felt the same way!! I wasn’t impressed.

I would complain. She was rude. 
As for having to do a second scan, don’t be worried. I have to go in for another scan too. Most of the time, it’s because the baby moved around too much and they couldn’t get a few pictures that they needed. My tech couldn’t get certain portions of the brain and heart. She told us that she would be booking us for another anatomy scan for that reason.
