Needing to get on the pill...

So I’ve been think about getting on birth control recently mainly for the fact that I’ve become sexually active recently. I need to get on some sort of birth control for the obvious reason of me being 18 and not wanting to get pregnant. How do I bring this up to my mother? I’m pretty sure I need the insurance to get it so I’d have to go though her. What do I say without the awakardness that comes with the thought of “oh my daughter is having sex with her boyfriend?” I just don’t know how to bring this topic up!!
