When do I need to start my birth control?

Hey everyone! I’m just now beginning to start my birth control. I haven’t actually taken it because I’m confused on when I should start taking it. I read that you start your first pill the Sunday after your period starts. But, the doctor that gave it to me told me to start it immediately. What should I do?

Either way works. Sunday start is really just to help you keep track of your pills, and the point of starting on or close to the first day of your period is to help your cycle match the pill quickly. If you were to start right now, the pill would still work (after the specified time frame of course, usually around 7 days), but it may take longer for your cycle to regulate.
