Periods and the pill

My doctors put me on the pill for the first time two months ago and she told me to use it to skip 2 periods and I have one every three months however I was able to skip 2 and almost directly after I started the third packet I have gotten a period even though I’ve skipped the placebo tablets... I originally chose the pill because I thought it would be a better form of birth control at 16-17 however I’m wondering now should I change it to the rod? Or is it going to make my periods even worse then they were before the pill 🙄
