Advice?

I just had an early labor. 25w3d twin boys at 3:40 this morning. I've never had kids before this is all new to me. All I know right this second is that my butt is numb, my stomach was cut up and down, and my babies are safe and doing good in the NICU. Any advice at all on what to do? I've read about having to poop before you leave. I keep passing gas but thankfully I'm still numb in my butt so I can't feel the pain yet lol. Just give a first timer any advice at all please.

I wasn't required to poop before I left, just pass gas. Just be sure to keep up on your pain meds and take it easy. If you need to sneeze, laugh, cough it helps to hold a pillow against your stomach.

if you have to laugh or cough, hold a pillow to your tummy where your incision is. Also, if your nurse/doctor doesnt offer a stool softener, ask for one. Walk as soon as its not unbearably painful but try not to overdo it. If you plan to feed your babies breastmilk, PUMP PUMP PUMP!!!! breastmilk will help them so much. pump as though you were feeding them, so every 3 hours or so. if you have trouble with supply, try organic mothers milk tea. When you go home, dont be afraid to ask for help. Visit those babies as much as you can. My daughter was also born at 25w/3d.

Walk as soon as possible! It sucks and hurts, but helps you in the long run. I got out of mine around 8pm and got up to walk the next morning as soon as I got up. I even got to go home a day early. My hospital typically makes a c-section stay for 3 days, but I only stayed 2. I'm now 2 weeks PP and feeling great! Still have some mild pain. coughing and sneezing (and sometimes laughing) are a little difficult. But, getting better each day!

Hang in there with pumping! I just had an emergency c-section at 34 weeks with my first baby (my little girl was in the nicu for a bit too) and I was struggling to get much at first but I asked to meet with a lactation specialist after having a breakdown about it and she helped me SO much. I didn't have the right size pump cups (the things that go over your nipples) and I was stressing out so bad that I wasn't sleeping which the lactation specialist said would cause me to not produce as much. I decided to take a long nap (easier said than done), drink lots of water, and eat a really good meal. After that I stuck to the 3 hour pump schedule and it finally started coming in more and more! 
Does your nicu have donor milk? Where I was they had donor milk to use until the mothers milk came in. 
Also make sure you get up and walk around as much as you can! I know it sucks but you will heal so much quicker if you do!

I had my oldest daughter at 25weeks. And 2 sections with my younger 2. The pillow thing helps. A lot. And u also have to be able to pee a certain amount after the catheter is removed. But one thing a NICU nurse had to stress to me was its ok to leave the hospital before your babies. It's ok to go sleep in your own bed. Because u need to recover and stay healthy for those little babies. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life by leaving her there and I called the nurse every time I knew she was doing cares for my baby just to be sure she was ok. But if no one would've ever told me that then I wouldn't have been strong enough for her strong to help her. So that is one thing I will pass along. If you're not at 100% then it may prevent u from being as strong as u need to be for the babies. Good luck to u and your families journey. Hoping your NICU is as awesome as ours if it weren't for their kind hearts and all the support (and I mean ALOT of support) I don't even want to imagine what could've happened.

If you aren't getting much colostrum from pumping, research milk banks near you. See if any nurses have info, or just start Googling! Human Milk for Human Babies is one resource I know of offhand. Outcomes are so much better for preemies if they can get breast milk from you or whoever!
