Too scared to masturbate?

I’m 20 years old and have never touched myself. Is this normal? I’m too scared to try and also think that touching myself makes me dirty. I’m a Christian, and that’s another reason I feel like I can’t do it. Any tips or am I right?

Religious beliefs put aside, touching yourself doesn't make you dirty, it makes you human. Everyone had urges, wants, desires and fantasies. I believe it's up to you and your free will to decide how to approach them. Touching yourself, although taboo in some religions, is a safe and healthy way to get to know your body and explore those desires.

I felt the same way when I started. I was already a senior in high school and kind of sneered at the thought until curiosity took over. I did feel some emotional turmoil but after talking to more peers about it over the years I’ve gotten over it. 
It likely won’t be mind blowing at first so just start slow. Maybe with just the occasional touch or stroke. Feel yourself out and figure out how much you are comfortable with. Personally, it’s almost been more fun to experiment than the actual action. 
It’s also alright if you don’t, I’ve talked to plenty of people our age who don’t do it just because they don’t feel like it and are fine with it.
