Possible Herpes?

A few days ago I started with itching and irritation on the lower part of my vagina, but it felt like maybe it had been scratched and itched because it was healing. Well I scratched more because of the itching and it turned into what looked to me like an open wound trying to heal, but it also got very swollen amd kind of painful. It almost had a pulsating pain at times. I went to the doctor about it last night becuase it was really starting to annoy me. She looked at it and asked if I had anything like that before, and I have because these small, pimple like bumps run in my family. All the women get them on their vagina. I assumed it was from sanitary pads since I only get them during my period and I used primarily pads. Then the nurse asked if I was every tested for or diagnosed with herpes🙊 I get tested every year AND with every new partner. Always been clear, but she said they don't usually test for herpes unless they have a reason to like itching or bumps. So I was swabbed for herpes, but looked it up and my bump doesn't look like herpes to me. I'm still freaking out. I didn't post a picture because of where it is, but I will if I can get a zoomed in one. Has anyone experienced this before? I've been with the same guy for a year and he was tested before we had sex and his test came back clear. I'm really confused as to how I would have gotten herpes
