So confused!! Car seats and infant carriers??

Question

So I was looking at purchasing the Graco 4-in-1 convertible car seat because it says it works from infancy (min 4lbs) to 10years (max 120lbs). 
My best friend told me that I still need an infant carrier like the Graco Snugride 35 for when they are newborns. 
Is this true? Do you actually need both of you buy a convertible seat?
I’m lost!!! Help please 🙂

You definitely don't NEED the infant seats when they're little - as long as your car seat is rated for their weight/size you're fine. That said - the infant car seats are SO HANDY. You buckle them in while you're in the house, and then you just click it in the car, and then when you get to the store (or wherever you're going), you just unclick and click into a double stroller (like the double Snap N Go) and you're on your way. No waking babies up while buckling /unbuckling! So there's a definite convenience factor. Also when you leave the hospital they have to leave in their car seats - so you'd have to lug two whole big car seats up and then re-install them into your car. Not a huge deal at all, just something to consider. Whatever works best for you 😊

I read the description online and it says read facing 4-40 lbs so I think you’re good. I never had a different seat from when mine were newborns and then infants, it was the same one that clipped into their stroller.

I used a regular carseat for my sons. I took them in or out of the seat and carried them...never had a travel system.

We needed the infant car seats because many hospitals in our area will not release baby in a convertible car seat. My SIL had to get an infant seat too for this reason and she’s from a different state.

So confused!! Car seats and infant carriers??
