Boyfriend advice

My bf and I live together and we have ever since we first got together. Well we argue a lot and recently he told me he wanted a break. Initially I wasn’t ok with it but then I said wth and just decided it’s what we both need. Well we live together and it’s kind of hard but we work a lot so we barely see each other anyway. Well last night he wanted to cuddle, it confuses me because if we are on a break shouldn’t we stay away from any intimacy between us and just focus on ourselves? Just need some advice on how to handle this “break”.
