Her orange scent laced through my nostrils like smoke from my cigarette. She had me all to herself. Once again, my right brain has failed me. And there was no letting go. I would forget about her for a moment.. but my thoughts never quite abandoned her. She always kept a close eye on me. Forever keeping my anxiety in check and kicking my self image around on the floor. “Stray no more”, she said. “For I am always here in your body.” “Whenever you sweat I am here.”

“Whenever you smoke I am here.”

“And whenever you want to be sober.. I’ll be here.”

She makes me shiver while she speaks.

She replied once more to my utter lack of faith in her.

“I am finally closing in my talons around your chest”. “Your soul is mine” she howled. “Forever holding you in the grip of my charred palms.”
