what do you have to go through to file for child support and how long would it take?

not pregnancy related, and no need to explain my situation.  But I want to know what's the soonest I'd start to receive child support after applying and what is the process like to get it?

Answer

It took quite some time for me - the first time I filed was about 7 years ago. I had to reapply a little more than a year ago and between getting him served,  bullshit court dates and non compliance my last payment received was $5 in December 2016. The courts are real good at letting dirt bag parents not pay. the sooner you file the better.
