In laws hate my dog

I have a 1 year old mini Dachshund and I recently moved in with my in laws not too long ago since my husband is in BCT for the Army. I reluctantly moved in because I didn’t want to live in our house alone, and it would save us money. I still wanted my own place and privacy I was just afraid to live alone. I have an 8 month old son too. So I moved in. Ever since I’ve been here they talk shit about my dog all the time. He’s hyper active, he begs for food. Well this morning I let him outside to potty and they have wild cats outside that they feed. He starts chasing the cats. They get mad. Like I can’t help that, it’s in his nature to chase things. He also tried eating their food. He’s a greedy dog. All dogs are. My FIL jokingly says I could kill that dog. I would do it. Put a bullet in his head. Like really? So I took my dog and my son and went upstairs to my room. I don’t want to talk to them for the rest of the day. I really want to cry over this. I don’t feel comfortable living here. I could move, but my husband only has 2 1/2 months left and I can’t find any place that will do month to month lease and it would be hard moving everything without him with a baby. Idk what to do guys. I feel so unwanted here just because of my dog.
