Am I mean for this?

My mom is throwing a fit because I told her I don’t want her in the room when I have my daughter. My mom has a tendency to be a little annoying, a tendency to stress me out. And so does my fiancée at times. I’m having my fiancée in there but I feel like between him and my mom they would both stress me out too much. I’m nervous enough as it is now I feel like I’ll be even more nervous when I’m in labor. I told her we probably won’t even let people know I’m in labor and just let people know she’s born. And now she’s throwing a fit. Am I being mean or selfish?

Your mom is acting like a toddler throwing a tantrum. You have every right to decide who is in the room.

It’s your birth experience so no your not being mean or selfish. I’m only having my husband there. I always thought I would have my mom in there but as time has passed I have decided that it is something my husband and I should experience together. I don’t plan on anyone being able to come into my room to see us or baby girl  for a good few hours after we have gotten to be with her. The way I look at it is I just spent 9 months creating her and she is part of me and my husband so we have the right to want alone time with her before others start wanting to hold her and such.

You do not want any more stress than you’ll already have during labor. It’s not selfish. Your mom needs to get over herself. Stress for you during labor will make it much worse.

My mom is my best friend (aside from my husband of course) and she’s still not going to be in there. My husband and I want to bring our girls into the world together, just like we went through so much together to make them (IVF babies). It’s something special for us and I don’t want our first moments as a family of 4 to be taken away by having anyone else there, Mom included. She can come see the babies later on that day/night after we’ve had our time.

You do whatever you want to do. Just because she’s your mom doesn’t mean she automatically has the right to be there. You want to be as calm and comfortable as possible when in labor...if that means not having anyone there but the Dad, then go for it. Your mom will get over it.

Seriously, it's a moment for you and your fiancé. My mother in law and my man's niece are adamant they're gonna be there when I have my baby. This is my first child and I want to share the moment with my fiancé and only my fiancé. They can come see baby the next day. I don't think that's too much to ask. If they can't understand that then that's their issue, but it's your moment and you get to choose how you want it.

My mom is my best friend next to my husband and I still didn't want her in the delivery room with me. I believe that the delivery is a huge bonding experience that needs to be shared between you and your fiancee and it does not make you mean or selfish. Your going to marry this man and he needs to step up and be your rock and she needs to respect that.

no you ain't been mean with all 4of my kids i didn't no one to be with me except my husband my sister was mad cause i didn't her there either so when i went into labor no one knew except my grandparents cause the watch my kids when i delivered my 4th one

I didn't have anyone in the delivery room with me. My mom wanted to stay, but I told my sister to take her home. I ended up having a c-section so I called my sister so she could be in the OR with me.
