Took misoprostol, no pain or bleeding as expected?
Hello everyone. I lost my baby and had a D&C; performed two weeks ago because the idea of waiting to miscarry naturally was too much for me to handle, I wanted it overwith. I was passing super large clots so I went to see my obgyn yesterday to make sure everything was okay. She said I have retained tissue and either needed to take misoprostol or have another D&C.; She seemed to lean more towards the D&C; but I opted to try the misoprostol first because Im terrified of scarring causing issues with TTC.
I took the four pills at 2pm yesterday. I took them by mouth and swallowed them like my doctor instructed. I later read most people are told to let them dissolve but I wasn’t told this. I had some dull pains that were easy to ignore and the tiniest bit of blood like a light period about five or six hours later. I fell asleep around nine pm. I woke up around 3am and went to the restroom to pee and check if I was bleeding, there was no blood on the pad but blood on the toilet paper when I wiped. It’s now 7:30AM and I am still barely bleeding and not in much pain.
My obgyn told me it was going to be painful, I was going to bleed a lot, pass clots, and I was gonna feel like crap. I’m not having any of those symptoms. Does this mean it’s not working? Should I contact my OBGYN office and speak with a nurse about maybe repeating the dose? I go back Friday at 9AM for a repeat ultrasound to make sure the misoprostol worked and if it didn’t my OBGYN said I have to get an D&C; no matter what. I REALLY do not want a second D&C; especially so close to the original one that I had.
Has anyone taken misoprostol and had it take a long time to kick in? I’m desperate for this to work, I DO NOT want a D&C.; Any advice or sharing your experiences would be super helpful.
Thank you all so much 💕
