Cramping no period. Spotting?

Usually once my cramping gets going it means period is on the horizon. I woke up to AF cramps, so I popped an ibuprofen and put in a tampon. A few hours later I went to check in the bathroom. There was barely anything there just a small amt of dark brown blood. I’ve only had a small amount of brown spotting when I would wipe today. It would be about 6 or 7dpo. Early period or implantation?  I’m so confused.
