Budgeting ?

Question

what are some good tips of budgeting. preferably from young women who juggle being a mother, student, and employed. I have a really bad spending problem lol. 95% always goes to my son. I have a tendency of buying things he really doesn't need and hardly ever buy anything I need. I just need to learn to budget and spend wisely. tips please

What you bring in for toys or clothes for your son donate some of his old clothes or his toys. Also Use organization bins and only allow those to have toys. If there are clothes in closet you put the summer/spring clothes in there and only put winter/fall clothes in the dresser. Change for the season and anything at the end of the season you’re not using with anything really in the house you donate or sell if need be. Helps keep things organized and focused on what’s needed and what’s not. 
If yourself give yourself an allowance to spend for 2 weeks. Really think about your purchases and if you still want it next check then get it. Put the extra money in a jar to use towards a little vacation for you and your son. Can always do half and half and do another jar with money towards paying off your student loans to get a head start. After all, it is a new year!

I was working part time, in school for medical assistant and my wonderful boyfriend has 2 beautiful children. It’s not easy but you get the hang of it :) GOOD LUCK!

Anytime you want to buy ANYTHING think 1. Do I NEED it or do I just want it? 2. Could I get it cheaper elsewhere?
Try to not buy anything the first time you see it.

Single mom I'm assuming?  Because if not you'll need to get your husband on the same page too.  Either way I strongly recommend two things 1) listen to Dave Ramsey 2) use Mint.com.  Mint is a great tool, but it doesn't really change behavior.

Great tips! I’m FTM and I can relate to wanting to buy everything but I’ve started reselling the clothes and items my son has outgrown on the Mercari app it has everything so that might help you shop within budget too
