He’s sucked the joy of gift giving right out of me...

So, one of my love languages is gift giving. So, when it comes to gift giving occasions, I feel like I go all out for my husband. I put a lot of love and effort into finding the perfect gifts, sparing no expense, then I wrap it up really nice, pick the perfect card, and when I give them to him, he’s so happy.

With that being said, my husband couldn’t care about gift giving. He LOVES receiving gifts, especially since I put so much effort into it, but when it comes to giving, he couldn’t give a crap. He spends a few minutes in Walmart or on Amazon, finding the cheapest thing he possibly can, then he hands it to me in the packaging it was purchased/delivered in and thinks he’s put in enough effort.

I’ve tried my best to just accept that this is just how he is; some people are just bad at giving gifts. But, with Valentine’s around the corner, and another slightly disappointing Christmas behind us, he’s sucked the joy of gift giving right out of me. I feel like I don’t want to put as much effort into gifts or not give any gifts if he’s not going to put any effort in for me. I started to think of what to give him for Valentine’s, and thought of all the disappointing holidays we’ve had before, and I find that I don’t want to buy him anything.

I don’t give gifts to receive any in return, and his smile when he opens up what I’ve given him is always worth it, but I’m just not sure what to do here. I’ve tried to accept he’s not good at it, I’ve tried to be humorous about it, but after receiving so many disappointing gifts, I’m getting really sad. I don’t even want to give him anything, even though I love holidays.
