Ellis: Boy, Girl, or Unisex?

It’s the only name right now that hubby and I agree on. We both see it as a boys name but a friend of mine named her daughter that and I’ve seen it quite a bit on girl name polls. So I’m wondering what the consensus is. Is it a boy name, girl name, or can it be unisex?

Ellis is my last name! :) 
The first and only time I've heard Ellis as a name was in the movie Age of Adaline, it's one of the man male characters.

Boys name!!!! I do know someone who used it for a their daughter though. When I think of the name Ellis, I think of the movie Age of Adeline. That dude Ellis in that movie 😍👌🏽🙌🏽💕

I’ve never seen Ellis as a boys name before. That’s interesting..I guess just imagine he is an adult and his wife is calling him from another room, his friends are calling him to play outside, or his employer is offering him a pay raise. I don’t know lol that’s how I picked my daughters name. I imagined her being called it by other people. It’s up to you and your spouse and whether you like it (:
