Hey ladies....for anyone who has paragard, I need some advice. I was on BC pills for about 5 years and after a change in my health insurance I decided to get an IUD. After stopping the pills, I had some health issues that resulted in me being hospitalized. While in the hospital, the doctor was concerned about blood clots. I was advised to go the non hormonal IUD route bc of the blood clotting issue. I got the Paragard and it’s been problems ever since.

The bleeding after insertion lasted for about a week, stopped, then resumed until I received my first period with the IUD. The second day of my first period w/ the IUD, I was in the hospital. I knew the bleeding was going to be heavy and the cramps would be worse than normal but I was to the point where I could not function. I’m thinking complications from the IUD. Turns out, I had 2 hemorrhagic ovarian cysts on the right ovary with one of the cysts being 4 cm in diameter. (I’ve had previous issues with ovarian cysts before while on BC pills). Followed up with my GYN the day after being discharged and they basically want to monitor the cysts to see if they improve/go away on their own. I was told to go to the ER if anything seemed to get worse. Anyway, period lasted about a full week however the pain and discomfort still continued even after my cycle. Pain meds weren’t working, no appetite for over a week, fatigue, leg weakness, abdominal tenderness, etc. all of this landed me back in the ER. I’m thinking the cysts were ruptured or something bc I got to the point where it was painful to walk. Well, an ultrasound showed that the cysts were ‘improving’ and the ER doc was thinking appendicitis. Had a CT scan and it did not show any signs of appendicitis so I was told that I may have endometriosis and needed to follow up with my GYN. Following up with my GYN today (hopefully).

Now with all of that being said, I find it to be quite ironic that I’m having all of these issues less than a month AFTER I getting Paragard. My mother and boyfriend both think that all of these issues are somehow being caused by/related to the IUD. They both suggest that I get the IUD removed. Idk what to do at this point. Should I leave it in or take it out? Any thoughts??
