Kids on youtube? Thoughts

Question

So my son decided awhile back he wants to make videos like the ones he watches on youtube, he has alittle  over 1k subscribers and 82k views on his channel. I know some people have mixed thoughts and views but I dont feel like im exploting my child for money, Its something he genuinely loves to do and thinks its funny to watch himself. His channel is a place where he unboxes toys, plays with them and also does video game walk throughs. All the money he has made soo far is his and he does get to buy toys and whatever he wants with it.

Sounds like a good idea imo. Nothing wrong about making videos. He can earn his own money doing something he enjoys and learn to manage it. Just make sure you are his number one fan/supporter and keep a look out for haters. I think it's pretty cool. My little brother also makes YouTube videos but isn't as popular as your son yet.

4 seems wayy too young for this. I'd wait till my kid was 13, which I believe is the required age for a YouTube account, and I would not let my four year old have spending money. It could go in a checking account till they're 7-8

I don’t see anything wrong with it. 
Just please be careful in what you show. I heard a story a while back about these family vloggers who got their kids stolen in the middle of the night. Someone found out exactly where they lived and based on their vlogs, pinpointed the exact room their girls were in and took them without anyone knowing. 
I’m not trying to scare you, just really minimize what is shown for your family’s safety!

I feel like the only thing you're doing wrong is not having him save some of his money. Other than that, a lot of kids enjoy watching other kids unboxing videos, and it could always brighten someone's day.

I don’t know that I would encourage its startup, but if it were something my child loved doing I would allow it. It sounds like you’re well aware of what is being posted, and are monitoring comments, so I see no issue.

I think that’s great! It sounds like you’re on top of monitoring him and it definitely doesn’t sound like you’re exploiting him for money. The cool thing about it is you can use this as a tool to teach him about money and you can set up a savings account for him where he can watch his money grow the longer he saves it. All in all it sounds like you’re doing a great job!
