I agree with the message but not the presentation. The tampon luxury tax should be abolished, but the comparison to slavery is disrespectful and ultimately unhelpful to the message

1) I don’t like the comparison to slavery at all. Not comparable 2) period products should be cheaper but not free. Everyone shits, does that mean toilet paper should be free? Of course not. Yes it sucks that we have to buy these things month after month but there are plenty of necessary things we must pay for. That’s life

Store brand pads are super cheap. I don’t understand what the artist is complaining about. Of course you have to pay more for the name brand products, but there are cheaper options. You can also invest in a menstrual cup and reuse it every month. A lot of women have made the switch to period panties too (absorbable, washable panties). This is a non issue. People need to stop acting like we’re just so pitiful for having a period. Examples of cheap pads & reusable investments:

The wage gap is a myth. It does not account for type of job and position held. But I do agree that feminine products are not a luxury. They are a necessity for hygiene and perhaps should not be taxed.
