Testing?

Is it worth going to be he doctors for fertility testing at 40? We’ve been trying since April last year but no had no luck. I’m concerned that doctors may not be sympathetic. I’d be interested in other people’s experiences.

I’m 41. Get pregnant very easily. Usually on my first try. I’ve also been an egg donor due to my natural fertility. Who knows? We are all different. It’s not like you turn 40 and all your eggs die. More and more women are conceiving naturally and older. It runs on my family and I have friends who conceived at 44 and 46 also naturally. One of them, first child. Bouncy and healthy. It happens more often than you think. Unfortunately it seems that bad news get more attention. I’d go see a doctor to have some answers, but by no means think you’re a lost case. It does happen!!! Good luck.

Yes x 1000!  I did my testing at 40 and then started working with an RE.  We are now 22 weeks after IVF.  I am 41.

I'm 40 as well, and I definitely would say go asap! It's extremely unlikely I'll ever conceive but my DH and I are going to use a gestational carrier, so we are optimistic that we will still have a biological child. At our age,  knowing what you're dealing with is imperative so you can make a plan!

Yes,it's definitely worth going. I wish I could afford to go. I think it's good to find out what you're dealing with so you can know where to go from here.

Yes go. I'm 41 and went in 3 years ago when we started ttc. I still see my RE every 3 months while we wait for our miracle.

i would go, best decision i made. i was working with just my gyn at 1st. she gave me clomid 50mg i did 5 unmonitered cycles no success. I had one 1more clomid rx left but i decided not to take it and  to see a specialist. I was scared at first didn't know what cost to expect or how i would be treated by them. But from the beginning they were great! To my surprise ALOT was covered by my insurance. 
 They did labs, hsg, and sis. My doctor told me i had a fibroid on my uterine lining that would make implantation almost impossible. I had surgery to remove it. Currently on 1st cycle of Femara 5mg and ovidrel(trigger). Not doing any IVF OR IUI just timed intercourse. They are confident i should have success soon. In the 2week wait now

I went to the docs today and they were totally sympathetic. She basically said that having a baby over 40 was not impossible and that I shouldn’t think it was. I’m booked in for some blood work and I’ve been told that if everything is fine I should leave it another4 months of trying naturally with having conceived naturally before. Fingers crossed 🤞
