How would you react to this?
I married, with 1 toddler. My husband and I both work full time. His salary is the cornerstone of our lifestyle, as it’s about 4x what I make, and our lives revolve around his career. (I’m mentioning this because of what he said to me, but I’m not sure if this is the reason he said it, so 🤷🏼♀️)
Anyway, I have a medical condition that’s exacerbated by my being a bit overweight, so a coworker and I tried out a gym on a free pass and loved it and we decided to sign up. It’s only $20 a month, and they just opened so the sign up fee was waived as a special deal.
Of course, I wanted to let my husband know what I planned to do, even though it didn’t seem like that much money. He had the audacity to look me right in the face, and tell me if I sign up for this, I’m “not allowed” to spend any money on myself for anything else the rest of the year.
Excuse me???
Mind you, I’m not a regular shopper. I only buy things I need. I don’t get regular manicures or have salon visits, anything at all really. And even if I did, I work for our money too! I’m grown! I will not be told I’m “not allowed” to do anything.
Am I overreacting? I had to pretend I went to go to the bathroom while I figure out what to say, and how to say it without punching him in his nose. 😡
