Hypnobabies as a substitute to traditional childbirth class?
Hi mamas! I am 23 weeks pregnant with my first child and have been considering the Hypnobabies self study course. I’ve read mixed reviews but think that it may be a good option for me (a somewhat anxious individual who hopes to have a natural childbirth). My OB already warned me that the childbirth class that my hospital offers is less than ideal in that it focuses a lot of time covering complications which are unlikely to be pertinent but also can be quite anxiety provoking. It’s also $80 which seems a little high for a class my doctor has told me she has concerns about me taking.
My question is, for those who have done the Hypnobabies self study course, do you feel it was able to stand alone as a childbirth education tool, or are there important things I’ll miss out on by not taking a traditional course? Can you think of any specific topics that I should read up on if I’m only taking the Hypnobabies course?
Also, FYI, my husband and I are already planned on taking breastfeeding and baby basics classes, so I’m really just concerned childbirth/labor specifically.
