Did my period came or did he hurt me?

My period is due 4 days from today but I had sex this morning with my sex partner and he looked at me and said he was sorry. I didn't really get why, until I looked down and saw a lot of blood... I am still kind of swollen and I had to leave because I had a test. It did kind of hurt while we were in the act but not as much as to think that he hurt me but now I dont know if my period came early because of the sec or if he really did hurt me. What should I do?
