Potty training! advice?

Question

What age did you start potty training your child? For people who have sons, how did you go about it? I'm not sure how to teach him how to stand up and pee, I don't want him sitting down to pee. Any tips?

We started at 20 months with my daughter. We did a weekend of Potty Training Boot Camp where she went naked from the waist down all weekend to facilitate easy potty access and would notice quickly if she was having an accident. She got to have lots to drink so she would have ample opportunity to go in the potty. We just asked her a lot if she had to go and made her try when a timer went off. She got a chocolate chip as a reward. She was potty trained within a couple weeks.

why cant he sit to pee? my little brother learned to pee sitting down and then after he got that down was taught to pee standing. i think its easier that way for them

I have four boys. I put a couple cheerios in the toilet and let them shoot them. They loved it. I waited until they started showing me signs of being ready to train; Telling me thwmeir diaper was wet, telling me they have to pee, showing interest in the potty. I also rewarded them every time they made it to the potty without an accident with a sticker or piece of candy. I made sure when they had accidents I made it clear it was a 'no no' and they don't get to go in their britches anymore. Good luck :)
