"self soothing"?

Question

My baby always falls asleep while shes eating and then I put a binky in her mouth and put her in her crib. Today at her 6 month appointment her pediatrician was listing off stuff she should be doing by now and one was not going to sleep with a bottle. They didn't really give me any more info on it so does anyone know how I can get her to stop falling asleep while shes eating?

I think it’s because they expect you to start sleep training. 
When breastfeeding they say to not let them fall asleep on the breast because they don’t learn to go to sleep on their own but I say who cares. Let them have that wonderful comfort and bond knowing mommy is holding them to sleep. You can sleep train when they’re older. 
Basically, YOU are mommy. Every Pediatritian has their own opinion. 
Dont let their opinions decide how you raise your child. 
Raise your baby on how you feel is best

nudge her if she starts to fall asleep, or tap the bottle. the noise and vibration should wake her up. don't let her feed herself.

There are a lot of different sleep training techniques and methodologies. If using a feed to help your infant for to sleep works for you and your baby, then it's fine to continue. Doctors are not infallible. It's okay to question them and to ask an explanation for a recommended course of action. You're the parent and your the one who has to deal with your child day in and day out

Does your babe not need to be burped after her night feed? By the time I burp mine, she’s awake and then I start my bedtime routine with her.

breastmilk naturally helps babys calm down and relax. a lot of the research ive aeen says use it to your advantage. i guess qith everything with babys theres two sides
